How to Completely Remove an Anti-Virus Application when Updating or Changing Vendors June 29, 2010

When you attempt to remove an anti-virus application (to either update or install a different brand), it is not uncommon for remnants to be left behind when using the Windows Add or Remove Programs utility (accessed from the Control Panel). Hence, many of the popular anti-virus vendors have created specific anti-virus software removal tools  (sometimes special procedures) to assist with complete removal.
