This report summarizes information about Internet access connections over 200 kilobits per second (kbps) in at least one direction in service in the United States on December 31, 2009, as collected by The U.S. Federal Communications Commission  (FCC) Form 477.

Two important points about the Form 477 data:
    • the data track subscribership, or adoption, of services of different speeds; they do not directly measure the availability of services of different speeds;
    • the reported connection speed is typically based on the advertised speed of the purchased service.
